Artist Statement:

It is extremely difficult, for me as an artist, to explain and elaborate on a matter that has occupied my mind for a long time, maybe years. There is no way to escape from it, however, and it must be expressed. For me, painting and creating an image is a way to express myself. It is the path that I have stepped on and have been continuously working on for many years. My first exposure to this matter indeed goes back to my childhood and my enthusiasm led me to pursue it academically.

My enthusiasm for representing people and objects was derived from the fact that I wanted to show my concerns very close to reality. This is the important lesson that I have learned along the way and to which I adhered passionately. I have always strived to improve the quality of my work and become familiar with all image creation techniques and master them.

Situation Series:

By paying attention to my lived experience, I suddenly realized that I live in an atmosphere where everything tries to increase sadness and considers any sign of joy and happiness undesirable and tries to wipe it out or prevent its growth. In this collection which I call “Situation”, I have tried to use symbols that work best in conveying my message to the audience. Clowns and agents dressed in special protective clothing are two symbols from two different fronts that represent my lived experience and the relationships between them. I hope someday this situation will end without pain and bloodshed and things change.

Dailiness Series:

I grew an interest in simple, static, and repeating rhythmic compositions from my earliest time in art school. I even try to use the very same technique in the installation of things around me to improve some of my overly routine days. I found that in dailiness, although the days are seemingly similar, with a closer look (for example, weather conditions), we’ll see that there are still nuances. These nuances, I believe, reduce the suffering of dailiness. Now, this collection is an attempt to invite the audience to sit and see the nuances in rhythm and repetitive objects.

Free Line Series:

Sometimes you have to let go of the brush so that it starts working by itself. Liberation and freedom are at the beginning of the work, which usually starts with a line and continues to an unconscious path. After this liberation, the mind can be focused more easily and directed to a specific path. My «free line» collection, in which I worked with only orange and purple, started completely arbitrarily and then continued consciously, but in the same way as the initial form and color. It means starting with a random line and then shaping that line according to the frame and feeling of that moment.

On the Border Series:

The world around us has always witnessed bitter and sometimes sweet events. But bitter events have always had a greater impact on people›s relationships and thoughts; But in the last few decades, due to some political, and social decisions, etc., these tragic events have gone through a growing trend in terms of statistics. So that we have witnessed several wars in the Middle East in recent years.

One of the issues brought about by these wars is the intensification of the migration of survivors from these countries to neighboring countries. This amount of immigration by the people of the country of origin was considered a kind of social threat by the political leaders of the destination countries and forced them to confront the arrival of these immigrants.

So far, it is not related to the topic chosen for the practical work under the title «On the Border». This is related to the topic in question when these civilized countries, instead of dealing legally and moving in the direction of rationality, suddenly, in a brutal and inhumane way, start suppressing and physically dealing with immigrants who seek refuge from this brutality.

The term «on the border» was chosen for this project because most of the events shown in the panels happened on the geographical border of these destination countries, and more importantly, the term on the border does not only refer to the geographical borders, but Here, the meaning of the border is «the border between rationality and savagery». Where one can make rational decisions that cause less harm and worry, with wrong decisions one tends towards brutality and violence.

The People of My City Series:

This collection, which I did for my undergraduate final project, was created with the initial idea to show still life differently than ever before. Objects in this collection are animals that are slaughtered and inanimate like still life, or the tools used to slaughter these animals traditionally. In the continuation of these works, I attempted to show another side of the people of this society, contrary to the relatively common view that portrays contemporary men as cold, isolated, anonymous, and disconnected from society. People who have chosen to slaughter living beings as an occupation and maybe sometimes take a photo with the animal, like old days. The moment of killing is not recorded in any of the works, only moments before or after the main event are depicted. In two cases, references to human presence have been made without showing human figures.

Still life

For me, still, life painting is not just studying and practicing painting, it is a kind of mental meditation. In still life painting, creating, producing, and studying is not the goal, but the main goal for me is to reach a path to see better and sink into simplicity. Seeing the simplicity of things that maybe I didn't pay much attention to before becoming a model for painting.
